NICK NOLTE... PARODIED!

The folks at Greg.org got suspicious first, and their fears proved correct. Nick Nolte's online diary, linked to below, is revealed by its creators to be a parody. Or, alternately, a work of fiction. Or a satire containing photographs protected by Section 107 of the United States Copyright Law. Whatever. For the few seconds it takes to scan a home page and link to it here, we were fooled.

Oddly enough, parodying Nick Nolte in blog form is far from a new idea. I've actually been doing one on livejournal on and off since "GHB-gate".

When it first started, it actually got quite a bit of attention (and praise), but mainly in the online community. For me, it's simply my "writer's warmup" - a way to get the craziest crap out of my brain before I sat down and wrote "normal" material.

Recently, I closed it off from the general public because of the problems the creators of the Not Nick Nolte's Diary had. My boozey doppelganger says it's because he's "being ripped off". But also, I had a slight scare over litigation a while back when a girl who purported to be a friend of Nutsa Kukhiandze (from THE GOOD THIEF) replied to a couple entries. It seemed to be legit as she had a load of pictures from THE GOOD THIEF's premiere.

I thought, "Fabulous. Any day now, I'll be served with a C&D." But thankfully, it never happened.

The major difference between "my" journal and theirs is that mine is SO far off the mark where some of theirs is pretty damn plausible. For instance, my Nick is living (as well as best friends) with Chris Burke (Corky from "Life Goes On"), who's addicted to crack and grain booze.

It started out as a "rehab journal", but it eventually evolved into more bashing celebrities and ranting about the terrible state of LA's local news.

If you're at all interested in checking it out, I set up a ghost account so my non-livejournal friends can get their fill of craziness. Feel free to e-mail me at mediotsavant_rob@netzero.net for the name of the ghost account and the password.

What's available to the general public isn't particularly good and some of them weren't even my work.

And incidently, I'm a big fan of the magazine. I don't miss an issue!
