Re: the editing system, etc.
Thanks for the mention Scott. More good news for ultra no budget would be filmmakers: these days a lot of relatively inexpensive PCs come w/ some sort of a digital video editing program, Firewire (or its more generic name IE1394 or something) capable, and even with DVD burners. We bought a Gateway eMachine computerat my dayjob a few days ago, $600 or so I think with mail in rebates, and it came with all the stuff that I mentioned above. That can certainly be used for short films and even for a relatively uncomplicated feature (simple editing). A good starting point at least, before moving up to Macs & FCP, etc.
