"FROM BUSINESS PLAN TO BOX OFFICE"

The 8th Annual IFP Independent Producers Conference will be on April 21st, 9:00-5:00 pm at Minneapolis Community & Technical College in Minneapolis. Guest panelists include Christine Vachon, Jeff Lipsky, Scott Z. Burns, and Lance Weiller.

Titled, this year, "From Business Plan to Box Office," the event is a day-long conference ending with a mentoring session.

From the press release:

A successful independent film producer knows the important elements of the business of filmmaking and how to utilize them to their full advantage. In financing a film, the producer must show potential investors that there is a strong producing team in place with a comprehensive strategy for generating funds from a variety of distribution channels. Our distinguished guest producers will present the nuts and bolts of financing, marketing and distribution and more, providing street-smart savvy and real-world examples....

The end-of-day Mentoring Session is new to the Producers Conference and designed for attendees who have a film project in the works that they’d like to discuss with—and receive feedback and guidance from—one of our guest producers. Those wishing to participate should submit by April 10th a one-page project description along with a statement indicating at what stage the project is. Mail or email the project description and statement to IFP MN Education Director Reilly Tillman, rtillman@ifpmn.org, IFP Minnesota, 2446 University Ave. W., Suite 100, St. Paul, MN 55114. IFP will forward the information to the assigned guest producer prior the conference weekend. Note: mentoring is offered only to Producers Conference attendees.

The event costs %50 for IFP members, $40 for students, and $75 for the general public. There will be an optional Middle Eastern buffet lunch for $10.
