REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA

And now... for fans of the baroque, gothic-industrial nightmare that was Saw III...

Lionsgate has just announced that ethereal/classical singer Sarah Brightman will be starring as Blind Mag in the upcoming feature, Repo! The Genetic Opera. Brightman has just finished recording the soundtrack, and will commence filming in mid-Sept.

Repo! is an avant-garde, horror/rock opera movie directed by director Darren Lynn Bousman, notorious for directing Saw II, III and (forthcoming) Saw IV.

Set in a post-apocalyptic and stylistic comic-book world, with a "wall-to-wall" soundtrack described as "a mix of industrial with opera", it's sure to appeal to the gothic set. Many musicians, including Jane's Addiction and Nine Inch Nails, are collaborating on the project.

No word on whether or not Repo! will be as explicitly violent as the Saw films, but I think Brightman's blue-haired, PBS fans may want to pass on this one.

She should be ashamed of herself! Promoting filth like that...

I'm sure it'll be tasteful, otherwise she wouldn't do it.

I knew she was a closet goth.

its not filth.
its just something different!
do you know sarahs background
before she was into opera?
she loves stuff like this!!!

I think it's great that Sarah is trying a new area. Sarah wouldn't do it unless it was good. I love all of Sarah's work and am sure this will open a new audience for Sarah.

Is this Sarah Brightman's desperate attempt to revive her career since her musical voice has left much to be desired in the past few years? Pathetic!

The only thing that is pathetic is you and your comment. She sounds better than anybody else out there.

Man, some of you guys are just mean. I agree with... uh... anonymous # 1 and 3 :D - it is something that Sarah wishes to do and more power to her for having the guts to do it. We don't know if this movie will be chock full of flying body parts, or if it will be done completely differently from the Saw films. I for one think that it will be different. Or at least I hope it will. It is not affiliated in any way with the Saw films other than the director of a few of them. I for one will be standing in line to see it and will support Sarah to the very end.

Revive her career? I think platinum, #1 Billboard albums, sold-out arena tours and a rabid fan following hardly call for "revival".

Brightman has left behind the "musical" genre a while ago, concentrating on the rock, pop, classical and electronic genres.

This all speaks for itself and we need not get upset by detractors who have nothing constructive to offer.

I think a horror movie fits perfectly with her dark, mysterious image. Sarah will do fine, and I admire her daring and experimental nature.

I love the Saw movies, and I think Sarah is a fantastic singer. Combine the two worlds and I think what you have is an instant horror classic. I hope it is violent, beautiful and scary!!

Isnt there enough violence in this world already? No one will see a new album probably until 2010 now.
What a stupid move and Paris Hilton is a joke!

In a movie with Paris Hilton?
What a crock of crap..Has she lost her mind?

I don't think it's filth at all ... Sarah is an extremly talented individual. Her vocal abilities out shine any who dare to try and campare. Sarah is a unique individual who likes to try and experiment new things. She's an artist. I think thats what makes Sarah who she is. Do constantly always have to see her in a ball gown singing arias ...no .. i think it's good that she is stretching her vocals and this. It will deffintly boost her career as well :-P

People have been putting her down the moment she hit the stage as a teen. I really don't think she cares, and will do exactly as she pleases. Which is why she ranks as one of the richest women in Britain. A major talent.

WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Go Sarah!!!! Two of my favorite things have just been combined. My love of horror and sarah!!! Can't wait for this to come out.

Michael Crawford and Andrew Lloyd Webber made Sarah's career anyways.

I was on set for two days and know this will be an amazing movie. Sarah gave it her all and did an amazing job. You will definately see a "new" side of her!

She's been proclaimed the World's Biggest-Selling Soprano of All Time!!! If she's doing this, it's not to revive anything, she's at her very best right now. She got involved in this only because she found it attractive and she wanted to try something new and wild! I think this will be great, and she'll be awesome in it, and I can't waaaaiiiiit!!! :-P "This is Sarag F*cking Brightman", as she said herself, quoting director Darren Lynn Bousman. LOL.

I believe Sarah Brightman has had a lot of bad comments most of her career because people are jealous of her beauty, talent and ethereal qualities.

This is one horror I will go to the show for instead of renting the video.

Unless you have followed Sarah's career from the 1970s to present you cannot possibily know this but Sarah's career has been full of completely different projects - that's what makes her such an interesting and fasinating artist. I fully support her in this and look forward with great interest to this film - neither Sarah Brightman or Anthony Head would not get into a film which was going to be filth or rubbish, I think they made a good choice, and I for one will look forward to watching and hearing it.

Sarah is a very talented lady - no one has made her career but her, and she has worked damned hard at it.

A long time ago, the Nazi government tried to suppress the so called “filth” in art by creating the notorious “Degenerate Art Exhibition”…

Today, there still are laymen who consider some of the works by Max Beckmann, Otto Dix, Ivan Albright and others as “filth”…

Strange but true, it’s hard for some to imagine that the same man who painted the “Starry Night” had painted the “Potato Eaters” too…

However, today the works of Beckmann, Dix or Albright are hanged in the museums… And the man who painted the “Potato Eaters” is -in my humble opinion- the most genial painter of all times…

Luckily for the mankind, this “filth” (regardless if it’s a simple canvas picture or rather a sophisticated motion picture) has the habit to hang well over the centuries!

Cinematography -unlike painting- is not a lonely creation, but rather a collective art! There are so many people involved in making a movie, regardless if it’s a love or a horror film… All these teams, all these great artists that bring the magic to our big screens… They are indeed marvelous!

To label any of their efforts as “filth” it only shows what a “Potato Eater” you are! And if you’ll study carefully the particular image I’m talking about, I’m sure you’ll notice too…

That’s the sad life you lead friend -right there- around Van Gogh’s old “filthy” table…

I agree with the above poster. No one made her career but her.
You are just showing your ignorance.

She's really gorgeous, & what i've seen of her in this film seriously kicks ass.

For anyone who has been unfortunate to have a brain not bigger than a pea and the intelligence of a fruit fly, this film will not be for you. FOr anyone else, they will be experiencing a menacing yet artistic fantasy that some people enjoy escaping to every now and then. Last I checked fantasy films based on comic strips, though full of social commentary and just plain imagination, are just but the dreams and talents of a few being made to be enjoyed by themselves and hopefully others. I like Hello Kitty, Sarah Brithman, white chocolate, men, caramel, sleeping and cheesecake. In that order. So, I assume people would not like to see a movie about me having intimate male to male contact while laying on a Hello Kitty bed spread, listeing to Miss Brightman's voice bomming out of my Hello Kitty alarm clock/radio/cd player, while I pour melted white chocolate, drizzeled with caramel and lay a slice of cheesecake on my man's abs. Come to think of it, I would not like that much either. So, my point is, the whole picture does not take away from the beauty of the individual playes. Goth or Hello Kitty. Actually Hot Topic has stickers of a goth Hello Kitty, I am gonna go buy me one now and stick it on my Sarah Brightman poster, right after I pick up some white chocolate and some men (with cheesecake).

This movie is going to be amazing. I am a huge fan of Ms. Brightman and have had the pleasure to see several of her concerts, which in them selves are amazing theatrical experiences.

I am also a member of the Repo Army and would ask that people not pass judgement on a project that not only does the director, creators and other have a thrown their hearts and soles into. Ms. Brightman has always been on the cutting edge, not just with the PBS sect here in the states but a HUGE following with people from different tastes and walks of life in Europe. She has an amazing voice, along with others who are in this film.

I would ask that you check out the website, www.repo-opera.com and see for yourself what this project is all about. Also, I would ask that you take the time and join the message board to help in getting this movie in wide release since it is something that is on the cutting edge and will have a huge fan base from all those who like all types of entertainment.

Aww...c'mon! I don't particularly absolutely LOVE what she did, but I've gotten to like it a lot more. I didn't like the picture of the Angel of Music in such a...well, erm, strange role? pity I won't get to see it. I am looking forward to REPO! The Genetic Opera, even though I am rather a Sarah Brightman purist. (i.e. Pie Jesu, Ave Maria, TTSG, Nella Fantasia etc...)

These blue haired PBS fans are the ones that have put Sarah on the top of the world in her career. If you mean 'old people' than why don't you check out the Sarah Brightman forum and see the ratio of old to young people posting there in praise of Sarah and her voice. Also, did you know that Sarah started out with 'blue hair' and scored a major part in Cats after she auditioned for ALW with blue hair.

Sarah being in the Repo movie is part of her surprise quality.

Watch the film then judge. Ive seen it 3 times and it may have some graphic gory bits but its essential to the story, which is touching, funny, and altogether unique. This film is not for everyone but have common sense enough to condemn it after seeing it and not before.

Sarah picked something that will most likely endure for years to come, quite possibly Repo! is the next midnight movie cult classic.

Sarah Brightman is the best-selling soprano of all time! She is very well loved in many countries around the world! She makes a great gothic artist! She can do any form of music and turn it into gold! (or platinum!). Sarah is broadening her horizons. I cannot wait to see this film on November 7!! It is going to be one great picture!!!

I really can'twait when the movie is out. I agree, that horror movie suits Sarah Brightman's new style. And in the movie she is absolutely stunning. Oh and what can I say about those jeaolous people who call her in bad names.. get a life people. Sarah is a wonderful singer with an angelic voice, if you don't think so, then get lost, you don't have to watch the movie, nor listen to sarah's music.

Repo! is a great vehicle for Sarah Brightman. She's the perfect pick for a role that seems to be tailor made. I'm sure that her name will also draw in many people that might not have otherwise seen this movie. This is just one example of Ms.Brightman's penchant for exploring new and exciting expressions. I look forward to it!

I have been a Sarah fan for years. And any Sarah fan would know that does things not many would expect her to do. She can do anything she sets her mind to. And she'll bring a whole lot of class to "Repo!".
I can't wait to see it.
