Francis Ford Coppola's first film in over a decade. I must admit, I can't wait to see it. The High-Def looks amazing and what I can tell from the trailer, the film appears haunting and captivating. Already prepping another project in Argentina, this could mark a comeback for Coppola that would act as a bright twilight to an amazing cinematic career.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago and liked it. I'll refrain from saying more until it opens at the Rome Film Fest next month.

It's opened with a dull thud in Italy. Coppola has made an old man's mistake. Free from constraints, he thinks he can begin making films after his own heart. He did much better when constrained. This is a write-off. Mircea Eliade's novel-fable is readable as it juggles ideas of time and language. On screen it's ridiculous. When we get tired of watching an excellent actor like Tim Roth something is radically wrong with his script. See Variety's critic on line
who enumerates the flaws of this fiasco with a sure hand.
