It was around this time two years ago that Adrienne Shelly's film Waitress was accepted to Sundance. Tragically, she didn't live to witness that honor or the film's ecstatic reception. Shelly was a true luminary of the independent film community whose life and work represent something we should all celebrate.
The foundation created in her name gives out a smorgasbord of grants and awards to emerging women filmmakers, in partnership with some of finest institutions and organizations in the arts (including Sundance, NYU, AFI, Columbia, New York Women in Film and IFP.) Visit their website at
www.adrienneshellyfoundation.org, where you can donate a little something in remembrance and support.
If you're in New York, you still have time to get your tickets for Monday Nov. 17th's Gala -- seats still available for just $25. Cheryl Hines, Mary Louise Parker, Paul Rudd, John Slattery, Keri Russell, Ally Sheedy, Jeremy Sisto, Lili Taylor, Maria Tucci, Michael Cerveris and more are all scheduled to perform.... don't miss out!
