A commenter in the thread on
Obama and the 181 film tax incentives, below, alerted me to
this post on the Art Sake site titled "Obama and the Arts." Funnily, as someone who works in the arts, Obama's policy on the arts barely entered my consciousness during the election campaign. There has been so much more to be concerned about. So, after the election, it's nice to know some details about the ways in which an Obama administration might be good for the arts. Check out the post, which contains a number of good links to related articles and statements as well as the news that former NEA chair
Bill Ivey has been named to the Obama transition team and has responsibility for the NEA, NEH and Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Thanks for the quote!
Obviously there are lean times ahead, but I think there's good reason to hope the arts will be part of the rebuild.
On a similar note, investing in the film industry has been a major effort here in Massachusetts (and I hope will continue to be, despite the downturn). It will be interesting to see if states that have passed favorable tax breaks to lure film projects will keep those tax breaks in this climate.
