HARD TIMES KEEP COMING 

Over at Variety's The Circuit, Mike Jones recaps the latest indie casualties, as last week indie companies First Look, Peace Arch and Yari Film Group reported layoffs (and lawsuits).

Quick sampling of some classic indies. These are their theatrical grosses. Were times ever THAT good?... It's all perspective...

Reservoir Dogs: $2.8M

Clerks: $3.15M

Safe: $512K

She's Gotta Have It: 7.14M

Mystery Train: $368K

Blood Simple: $2.15M

Pi: $3.12M

I concur. Indie film has always been about passion work and as a matter of fact, I'm having my best year ever as far as fund raising and negotiating deals.

Re the box office, given inflation and ticket prices, some of those numbers aren't bad. I think a number of those films would be hard pressed to make those numbers in today's environment.
