Kill Bill meets Saving Private Ryan?

Wow! From the trailer this movie seems
tasteless and offensive. An attempt to make a
piece of sensationalist entertainment out of Nazism.
But if anyone can do it, it would be Tarantino and
the Weinsteins. Our culture just can't consume enough
sordidness.

Well, it's not Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS (or at least I think it's not).

If Nazi's are supposed to have no humanity, then what about tarantino, his characters and his entire filmography?
This depresses the fuck out of me.

It looks aesthetically hackneyed. Gee, I've never seen an overcast, desaturated WWII movie before. Or Nazis in B&W.

I've given up trying to mine Tarantino's films for a glimmer of subtext relevent to contemporary society. There is none. His films are just self-referential (masturbatory) spectacles. Nothing more. Don't think for a second that "Inglourious Bastards" will offer a critique of the War on Terror or ironic reflection of America's use of torture. Tarantino's not that sophisticated. He's no Christopher Nolan.

I read the 165-page script last year; certainly a wildly, unapologetically entertaining, insane ride of a film, and his core fans certainly won't be disappointed.
It's chuck-full-of the usual Tarantino-isms.
I wouldn't look for anything of genuine substance here. There's very little here that's based on historical fact. It's not a film that's at all interested in anything more than to purely entertain its audience.
Despite Brad Pitt's questionable hillbilly accent, I'm definitely seeing it!

But who are we kidding. It's Tarantino. We're all going to go see it. If not in theaters, then in the comfort of our own homes...
Was that BJ Novak from "The Office" in the trailer!?! Really!!!

His movies offer the pure essence on why the majority of people go to the movies.... entertainment. A movie doesn't have to offer a sophisticated enlightenment on the human condition in order for it to be good (all though in my opinion the best movies do). If it has a well built character (and tarantino builds his characters quite well) and a well developed script, then
I'm willing to give this movie a chance to let tarantino redeem his story telling and interesting appeal he seemed to let dither away in Death Proof.

Why do people persist in thinking that Tarantino is in any way important or culturally relevant?
He's an idiot with no respect for anything other than trash and his own inflated ego. Also, he has no respect for violence either and his treatment of it shows zero understanding.
I pity the kind of stupid, empty celebrity culture that bullies some of us into believing that he's an auteur. QT HAS NO CLOTHES!!!
BTW - Inglorious Bastards whould be far better employed as the title of a documentary about how QT, the Weinsteins and every other fuckin' faker like them has used and abused 'independent film' for their own shallow ends.
Pussies the lot of them!

Whoa, too much hating here... I have to step up and say that I've always liked Tarantino's films. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that he's one of the few directors out there who has never made a bad movie. (Okay, Death Proof is slight, but it was meant to be.) Yes, his films are entertaining, but I also think they are more than that. His filmmaking pretty effortlessly taps into something having to do with how memory and nostalgia are conveyed through cinema. Yes, his filmmaking may be rooted in the movies of the past, but his riffs on genres never feel hollow to me. I always pick up his love for his inspirations in his films, and I think that sincere affection makes his films work emotionally for the viewer.
That said, I was a little disappointed by this early trailer. But I also don't remember the "Kill Bill" trailer being anything special either and, yes, I will be there when this opens.

It looks like Glengerry Glen Ross--but instead of selling bad leads to rubes and marks, they're tasked with torturing and killing Nazis.
What to make of QT's spelling of "Basterd"(sic)? And the fact that everyone looks to be "playing army" instead of acting in an army film...I'm not sure. This is the film he and Avery have been cooking up since they were 17...but it looks like it could have been made by a teenager.
I hope it's better than Death Proof. Otherwise, I sense a downward spiral.

Does Brad Pitt remind anyone else of Tommy Lee Jones in THE FUGITIVE? "..outhouse and doghouse in this area.."

Tarantino still interests me, sure, but I can't really see where he is anymore. His ideas now all seem to center around creative violence and pushing limits of violence and withholding violence before the violence.
His first three films were doing a lot more than this.
And Eli Roth...his face...so punchable...sigh...

haha, so serious. You can tell all the comments on this page are from bitter, failed film students. It's just a movie, try to have fun once in a while.

Um, doesn't anyone else think it strange that the preview rating at the start is "Suitable for all audiences"? Come on, if ever this gets accidentally shown to an audience with any kids under 10, I can bet the blood splatters alone will upset some of them.
I agree with comment above that QT should be considered an embarrassment, not a talent.

I love how informed pre-release critiques are. ("Kill the monster! Kill the monster!") Using a trailer for their source material, no less.
See the entire film first before flapping thy righteous gums about what it is or is not.

I enjoyed the hell out of Death Proof actually. The Grindhouse audience I went with certainly did as well. Not only was it nice genre homage, the stunt work was carried out beautifully by some serious industry stunt legends. The process of dropping the boyfriends dragged a bit, but the payoff was worth it. That Zoe Bell was actually cast in a primary role, and pulled it off nicely, was icing on the cake.
