KAREN BACH

Via Green Cine Daily comes the following notice: “Baise-moi director Virginie Despentes has been blogging (in French) and remembers the film’s star, Karen Bach, who committed suicide on January 28, leaving behind only empty pill bottles and a short note to her parents: ‘too painful.’”

Bach, 31, had worked in the porn industry before starring in Baise-Moi (2000). At the time of her death she was trying to build a career in music.

    My prayers are with her, it’s so sad, she is and always will be a beautiful woman. I believed she never wanted to be in the business she was in & she struggled with that but couldn’t overcome her demons. You are not forgotten. Whatever you did in your life that was noble & true was never in vain. God be with you, Karen. Love,

    What a terrible waste. She was such a beautiful woman. What a pitty that ones enviroment judges us you for we do and not what we are as a person.

    I have only just recently heard of Karen Bach and seen her in Baise-Moi, and I am already as shocked as I would be if it had happened to a close friend.

    Even more, what shocked me was that I learned of Karen’s suicide shortly after reading Raffaela Anderson’s letter to the makers of the documentary about her “La Petite Morte”, in which she describes her childhood sexual abuse and the way it has affected her life, but concludes that, however she will eventually overcome it, she will never take her own life, as “that would be too easy”.

    I don’t know what it was that Karen found “too painful” that she could not overcome it in the way that Raffaela chose to, but either way, it is a tragic shame.

    After just watching Baise-Moi and looking up more about the actresses on the web, I was shocked and saddened to hear Karen had committed suicide. I wish there was more biographical info on her. Shame.
