Cinematexas International Film Festival
Since its inception in 1995 as a tiny student showcase, the festival has grown rapidly, mutating with each new edition. Our competition program is a forum, an ongoing argument, a free zone for celebrating and exchanging stories, for collaborations and for exposing audiences to brave and radical forays in cinema. We seek out and reward films that provoke, expose, and explore the short format as a genre in itself, arduously defending the beauty, social role and integrity of the moving image. Although our first and primary focus was and is short film, over the years we have come to understand and champion this truth: artistic expression cannot be confined to a camera, projector and a screen.

Filmfarm
A new European independent film school is now accepting applications for its first series of courses, to be taught by Hollywood filmmaker Mark Travis, in July 2002.
Filmfarm is located in a relatively secluded place in Western Poland that awakens the imagination. Novelists have traveled the roads hidden in the neighboring forests. The locals talk about ghosts in the village manor house. And a few film enthusiasts recently kicked off the idea of organizing seminars about movie-making in the very same manor house, planning to take the idea soon to a much higher level. The official aim of those enthusiasts who gathered at the manor house last Easter is the education of European filmmakers by means of exposing them to different currents of thought and encouraging them to express their individuality and culture through films that would bring satisfaction and commercial success. This summer, during the first two weeks of July, Mark Travis, a Hollywood filmmaker and teacher of the art of filmmaking, will conduct lectures at Kotla concerning various aspects of making movies. He will teach courses he has taught around the world, including script analysis, the rehearsal process, staging, the relationship between director, camera and the actors, and a workshop on directing.
The secluded Silesian manor which is the location of the July summer school is known as the FilmFarm. It is intended not only as a place for lectures but also as an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life where the participants can create their own reality.
The FilmFarm is about 250 km southeast of Berlin. It is a non-profit undertaking.

Filmout Express
Filmout Xpress prides itself on working closely with its filmmakers, and part of that intimacy evolves out of the affection owner Gilbert Yablon has for his vocation. "I've been in the graphics and effects business for 25 years and my favorite thing is the long-form video projects," he says. He goes on to point out that the company's custom approach sets it apart from other transfer houses. "Whether it's large or small, we treat each project as if it's the only one, and we strive to make each film as good as it can be." The company's recent video-to-film transfers include "It's A Shame About Ray," which Yablon uses as an example of the care his company tries to take with each project. "There were a few tricky things with the film because of the dramatic lighting: the heaven scenes are very bright, and there are a lot of dark scenes, and very different flavors of the video," he says. "We wanted to be sure that it all transferred consistently." Like many transfer houses, Yablon advises filmmakers to talk to the company early on in the process. "While there are no rules, we can tell you a little bit that may help you mamimize image quality."

GoFish and Hidden Celebrity Webcam
GoFish Corporation today announced the upcoming launch of its latest MFI series, Hidden Celebrity Webcam. The interactive program, sponsored by the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, will premiere on the GoFish Network May 10.
Hidden Celebrity Webcam, launched by GoFish Corporation the leading Internet Video Network showcasing original, Made-for-Internet (‘MFI’) programming, is created by Icebox, a collaborative of some of the television industry’s top writers, producers and animators developing original entertainment programming on the Web. The animated parody gives audiences a voyeur’s glimpse into the most private – and unwittingly embarrassing – moments of some of Hollywood’s most notorious celebrities as imagined by series creator, Nell Scovell.
The program will challenge GoFish audience members to conceive, create, and upload their own Hidden Celebrity Webcam videos. The entries will be viewed and judged by some of television’s top Emmy®-winning producers, including Howard Gordon (executive producer, 24), Rob LaZebnik (co-executive producer, The Simpsons), and John Collier (co-executive producer, King of the Hill), as well as the creator of Hidden Celebrity Webcam, Nell Scovell. Scovell was most recently a writer on CBS’ NCIS and creator of the popular television series Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
Contestants will be narrowed to a list of five finalists, with the winner receiving a meeting with the Rothman Brecher talent agency to discuss talent representation. The agency represents artists affiliated with hit television series, including The Simpsons, Ugly Betty, and CSI, among others. The first prize winner also will receive an Apple MacBook Pro, while runners-up will receive Apple iPods.
